We did a large backyard deck for this customer and we were also planning on replacing just the front entry stairs due to rot. Unfortunately, not only were the stairs rotten but everything else you see here was too. When we opened it up we discovered the builder used non pressure treated wood for the frame, and screws penetrating the top plate let water into the entire structure which led to complete failure. So we rebuilt the deck, stairs, siding, and railing using Trex Transcend spiced rum decking, Azek 1×10 PVC for the top cap, pressure treated framing, and Hardi lap siding. We then painted the walls and were able to reuse the steel railing. This is not the largest or fanciest project we have done, but we decided to post it just to show our framing and siding repair abilities.
