This porch had been redone a few years earlier by the homeowner. He had laid plywood down and covered it with pine tongue and groove decking which he painted. It was only a matter of time before this setup failed and was rotting away. So we tore out the other porch, reframed the new porch and used Timbertech Earthwood series walnut composite decking. He wanted it to look more like tongue and groove decking so we installed the boards side by side with an occasional expansion joint rather than with 1/4″ spaces like normal. There is also a strong pitch away from the house so water is directed away from the foundation. Overall this was a big improvement and this customer won’t have to worry about replacing the porch ever again!
