Milwaukie – This deck replacement project was built inside a beautiful front yard garden, surrounded by established landscaping, trees, and planting beds. The homeowners wanted a low-maintenance deck that would look clean, feel comfortable, and blend into the garden setting without overwhelming the landscape. For this project, we installed heat-resistant Trex Lineage decking in Biscayne with a contrasting Island Mist border. The result is a soft, modern deck surface with a clean picture-frame detail that adds definition around the perimeter.
Trex Lineage Biscayne Decking with Island Mist Border
The main decking surface features Trex Lineage Biscayne, a light, refined composite decking color that works beautifully with the home’s exterior and surrounding garden. Trex Lineage is a great option for homeowners looking for a low-maintenance deck surface with enhanced comfort underfoot. To give the deck a more custom finish, we added an Island Mist picture-frame border. This border helps define the edges of the deck, highlights the deck shape, and creates a more polished finished look.
Trex Select Aluminum Picket Railing
To complete the deck, we installed Trex Select aluminum picket railing. The black railing creates a clean contrast against the lighter deck boards and gives the space a crisp, timeless appearance. The railing also keeps the deck open to the surrounding garden views. Rather than closing off the space, the picket design allows the homeowners to enjoy the landscaping, greenery, and front yard setting from the deck.
Horizontal Trex Deck Skirting with Side Gate
A standout feature of this project is the custom deck skirting. We installed horizontal Trex Lineage decking in Biscayne as skirting, using pressure-treated backing and spacing the boards approximately 1 inch apart. This gives the deck a clean, finished appearance while allowing the skirting to feel more open and intentional than a standard closed-off fascia detail. The horizontal layout ties directly into the deck surface and creates a cohesive look from top to bottom. We also included a side access gate, making it easier to reach the area beneath the deck when needed while keeping the finished skirting design intact.
Protecting the Existing Garden and Landscaping
Because this deck was nestled inside a mature front yard garden, protecting the surrounding landscaping was an important part of the project. At Deck Masters, we always take great care to preserve our clients’ yards, planting beds, and established landscapes during construction. On this project, that meant working carefully around the garden while still completing a full deck replacement, railing installation, skirting detail, and gate access. The finished deck feels like it belongs in the space rather than disrupting it.
A Low-Maintenance Deck Built Into a Garden Setting
This project is a great example of how a deck replacement can improve both the function and appearance of an outdoor space while respecting the existing landscape. With Trex Lineage Biscayne decking, an Island Mist border, Trex Select aluminum railing, custom horizontal skirting, and a side gate, the homeowners now have a durable and attractive front yard deck that fits beautifully into the garden.
