Trex Lineage Deck with Custom Cedar Privacy Screen

SW Portland – This comprehensive outdoor transformation showcases a seamless blend of high-performance contemporary materials with warm cedar finishes. The foundation of the space features a full rebuild using Trex Transcend Lineage decking in “Biscayne.” This specific palette offers a light, coastal aesthetic that remains significantly cooler underfoot, even on the brightest days. We framed the perimeter with Trex Signature black aluminum railings, elevated by a functional 1×6 cocktail rail in matching Biscayne composite to provide a convenient surface for entertaining. To harmonize the structure with the lush landscape, we integrated custom cedar arbors designed specifically to retain and frame the towering bamboo grove. All natural wood elements, including the traditional lattice skirting and perimeter fencing, were finished in a rich Oxford Brown stain by Messmer’s for a striking contrast against the deck’s honey-toned boards. The focal point of the design is the custom-built privacy screen, which pairs a handcrafted cedar frame with modern Hideaway aluminum panels. These decorative laser-cut inserts provide the perfect balance of seclusion and architectural flair, turning a functional barrier into a stunning piece of outdoor art. This project exemplifies how modern composite technology and traditional cedar craftsmanship can coexist to create a truly one-of-a-kind retreat.
