For this project, Deck Masters replaced the existing upper-level deck and stair system with a low-maintenance composite deck designed for everyday use, long-term durability, privacy, and year-round enjoyment in the Pacific Northwest.  The finished deck features Deckorators Voyage Mesa decking with a contrasting Khaya picture-frame border, creating a warm, natural wood-inspired look with a clean custom finish. The Mesa field boards bring rich, variegated tones to the main walking surface, while the Khaya border adds definition around the deck perimeter, stair edges, and transition points.

Integrated Hideaway Privacy Screens with Post Downlights

One of the standout features of this deck is the installation of integrated Hideaway Privacy Screens. These black horizontal privacy panels create a more secluded outdoor living area while also adding a bold architectural detail to the deck. The privacy screens were designed into the railing layout rather than added as an afterthought, which gives the project a cleaner and more intentional appearance. We also installed post downlights into the privacy screen posts, adding soft accent lighting that improves usability in the evening and highlights the screen system after dark.

Stair Riser Lights for Safety and Ambiance

To improve nighttime visibility, we installed riser lights at the stairs. Stair lighting is one of the most practical upgrades for a raised deck, especially when the stairs connect an upper living space to a lower patio, yard, or walkway. The riser lights provide subtle illumination on each step, helping improve safety while also giving the finished deck a more custom, polished feel.
